Pune: Private Taxi Driver Tries to Abduct Woman Passenger, Foiled by Alert Citizens

Pune, 17th February 2023: On February 1 evening, a 44-year-old woman was allegedly abducted by a private taxi app’s driver, Yogesh Lanu Nawale, while traveling from Baner’s Orchid Hotel to Pune University Circle.

According to FIR registered with Hinjawadi Police Station under Pimpri Chinchwad Police, the driver took a different route, and the woman realized that he was not following the route she had booked. When she questioned the driver, he started driving the car even faster, causing her to become even more frightened.

The woman works as AVP with a prominent bank. After meetings, she wanted to go to Wanowrie from Orchid hotel.

Citizens noticed the commotion and came to the woman’s aid when the car slowed down due to a signal. The woman then reported the incident to the police, who registered a case against the driver and are now searching for him.

The police are investigating the case, led by Sub-Inspector Tukaram Khadke of the Hinjewadi police station. The police have registered a case against the driver, and an investigation is underway.
