Pune: Prompt Action By Kothrud Police Saves Life Of 20 Patients On Oxygen Support At A Hospital

Kothrud, 2nd May 2021: With only 45 minutes of oxygen remaining at Krishna Hospital, where 20 patients were on oxygen support, officials from Kothrud police station, Pune city police, scrambled with all their might to arrange oxygen in the nick of time.

The Pune Police is being lauded at all levels for its prompt performance during the Corona period as the Kothrud Police averted a major incident. Pune police have already put in police a mechanism to track the supply of oxygen and the available stock from the hospital.
On Sunday, Kothrud police station senior police inspector Meghshyam Dange received an SOS call from the Krishna Hospital manager at around 8.30 am. He said that oxygen was not available anywhere and only 45 minutes were remaining before the hospital would run out of oxygen supply. He also informed that the 20 patients could not be relocated due to lack of space.

Inspector Dange immediately rushed the officers to the hospital. After that, Suryaprabha Hospital and Sahyadri Hospital immediately provided four jumbo cylinders to Krishna Hospital with the help of the police.
As these cylinders were only a stop-gap arrangement, DCP (Zone 3) Pournima Gaikwad and ACP (Kothrud division) Gajanan Tompe sent police escorts to Shivajinagar and arranged more oxygen cylinders.
