Pune: Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar and Pt. Tejendra Narayan Mujumdar conclude day one with their mesmerizing performances!
Pune, 13th December 2023: Day one of the 69th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav witnessed mesmerizing performances at the Maharashtriya Mandal Krida Sankul at Mukund Nagar today.
The second half of day one began with the melodious performance of Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, a disciple of Bahadur Khan of Senia Maihar Gharana. He performed Alaap, Jod, Jhala in Raag Jaijaivanti. He ended his rendition with a Thumri ‘Rangi Sari Chunariya’ in Raag Manj Khamaj. He was accompanied by Ishan Ghosh on Tabla, with Nitish Purohit and Anupam Joshi on Tanpura.
The second performance was the enthralling vocal of Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar from the Gwalior, Jaipur and Agra Gharana. He performed Raag Darbari in Vilambit Teentaal along with a Tarana in Teentaal followed by Raag Basant in Vilambit Ektaal. He concluded the day with a bandish in– ‘Tum ho Jagat ke Daata’ Raag Bairavi (originally performed and created by Ustaad Vilayat Khan) in Vilambit Jhaptaal.
He was accompanied by Sudhir Nayak on harmonium, Taalyogi Pt. Suresh Talwalkar on Tabla, Advait Keskar on Tanpura and Aishwary Mahashabde (vocals)
