Pune: Public Opposition To Balbharti Road On Vetal Tekdi Prompts Supriya Sule To Seek Alternatives

Pune, 18th April 2023: The proposed Balbharti road on Vetal Tekdi has faced strong opposition from the public, and Supriya Sule, a prominent political figure, visited the hill on Tuesday to learn more about the issue.

Sule reviewed a presentation prepared by the action committee in the office of the Forest Department and emphasized the need to consider alternative options for the road that do not harm the environment or require the cutting of trees on the hill.

During the presentation, Pradeep Ghumre, Sumita Kale, Dr. Sushma Date, Prithviraj, Shalmali Pawar, Sameer Shindi, as well as Conservator of Forests Rahul Patil and Assistant Conservator of Forests Deepak Pawar were present. Sule stressed the importance of balancing development with environmental conservation and noted that the administration should consider the sentiments of the people.

Sule stated that if the administration still wants to proceed with the construction of the road on Vetal Tekdi, then they should look at other options that do not require cutting trees or damaging the environment. She suggested seeking the advice of experts to explore alternative options that can address transportation needs while preserving the natural beauty and ecology of the hill.
