Pune, 25th November 2022: The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has completed the scrutiny of the relevant site documents for the proposed international airport in Purandar taluka. Also, by re-evaluating the land, the High Power Committee (HPC) is likely to approve the proposal that the site is best for commercial and industrial ‘Intention of Development’ (IOD) purposes by November 30.

Maharashtra Airport Development Company (Maharashtra Airport Development Company – MADC) and the district administration have submitted the progress report of the airport project so far to the MIDC. Since there has been no movement regarding the project in the last two and a half years, it has been decided to re-evaluate the lands earmarked for the project. Also, a multipurpose cargo transportation and storage centre (multimodal logistics hub) has been proposed along with the airport. Against this backdrop, a ‘Development Intent Proposal’ has been prepared and sent to the High Authority Committee regarding the location of the airport and multi-purpose cargo transport and storage centre. It will be approved by the end of November.
