Pune: Purandar Airport Talks to Resume with Central and State Governments – Minister Mohol

Pune, 3rd January 2025: On the occasion of Savitribai Phule’s birth anniversary, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol visited the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Memorial (Phule Wada) in Pune. During his visit, Mohol provided an update on the Purandar Airport project and addressed the ongoing discussions about the guardian minister post for Pune District.
Accompanied by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Pune City President Dheeraj Ghate and Kasba Peth MLA Hemant Rasane, Mohol interacted with the media after visiting the memorial. He stated, “The site for Purandar Airport has already been decided. A meeting will be held soon with central officials and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to discuss airport issues in the state, including Purandar Airport. We expect to resolve the Purandar Airport matter soon.”
Regarding the speculations about a tug-of-war between Ministers Chandrakant Patil and Ajit Pawar for the Guardian Minister post of Pune, Mohol dismissed any conflict. He emphasized, “There is no fight. We contested the election unitedly, and there is coordination among Mahayuti leaders. We have a mutual understanding, and there is no dispute or discussion. We will accept the party leadership’s decision.”
Mohol attributed the recent influx of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) party members in Pune to the BJP to the country’s development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He stated, “Modi’s vision is attracting leaders to the BJP. We welcome those joining the party, although we don’t actively recruit them.”
Addressing rumours about BJP contesting the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections independently, Mohol said, “As activists, we follow our leaders’ decisions. We are disciplined. When the PMC elections approach, we will decide on our strategy.”
