Pune: Railway Division Gets Modern Accident Relief Medical Train

Pune, 26 October 2020: A new and modern medical relief train has been made available to Pune Railway division for immediate medical help to passengers during an accident. Divisional Railway Manager Renu Sharma inspected the vehicle with officials and took a detailed review of it. She has expressed hope that this new train will increase the efficiency of the railway system.

According to officials, this accident relief medical vehicle fitted with modern technology has inbuilt engines on both sides, which will help it to run quickly in both directions. Being self-propelled, it has got rid of the hassle of putting the engine separately. This will save a lot of time. Now in the event of an accident without any delay, it can be sent to the accident site in a very short time. The three-compartment modern medical relief car has a tool van, operation theatre and staff seating.

Medical vehicles are used in relief operations to rescue passengers during accidents. The medical relief train consists of doctors, a team of paramedical staff, a limited number of beds and an operation theatre inside, where necessary facilities like medicines, equipment, oxygen cylinders are also available for the treatment of injured passengers. In fact, the Medical Relief Train is an operation theatre on wheels.

During the inspection of the medical relief train, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Neelam Chandra, Chief Medical Officer Dr Sanjay Athawale, Senior Divisional Medical Officer Dr Niti Ahuja, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer Vijay Singh Dadas, Senior Divisional Safety Officer Devendra Kumar, Station Director Sanjay Kumar and other staff were present.
