Pune Railway Division Marks 80th Independence Day With Parade, Cultural Events

Pune, 15th August 2026: Pune Division of Central Railway celebrated the 80th Independence Day on August 15 with a flag-hoisting ceremony, ceremonial parade and cultural programmes at the Divisional Sports Ground on Tadiwala Road.

The main ceremony began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma, followed by the National Song and National Anthem.

Railway officers, supervisors, employees and representatives of recognised unions and associations attended the programme. Additional Divisional Railway Manager P. U. Jadhav and branch officers were also present.

RPF, Civil Defence Teams Take Part in Parade

Contingents from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), St. John Ambulance, Civil Defence, and Scout & Guide teams participated in the ceremonial parade.

The programme also included cultural performances by the Divisional Cultural Academy and the Scout & Guide team. The Railway Dog Squad presented a special demonstration during the celebrations.

Flag Hoisted at Railway School

As part of the Independence Day programme, Swati Verma, President of the Women’s Staff Welfare Organisation (WSSO), along with other WSSO members and the Pune DRM, participated in the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Railway School in Ghorpadi, also known as Little Angels School.

WSSO members also visited the Divisional Railway Hospital, where they interacted with patients and distributed fruits.

The Independence Day programme brought together railway personnel and various departmental teams at the divisional level as part of the August 15 celebrations.
