Pune Railway Mega Block: 42 Trains Cancelled, 25 Diverted During 15-Day Third Line Work
Pune, 5th September 2026: Train services in the Pune division will face major disruptions for 15 days from September 19 to October 4 as Central Railway undertakes engineering, signalling and overhead equipment works for commissioning the Hadapsar–Ghorpadi third railway line.
The extensive Pre-Non-Interlocking (Pre-NI) and Non-Interlocking (NI) blocks will be carried out at Pune and Hadapsar yards. The works will affect train movement through cancellations, diversions, short termination, short origination, regulation and rescheduling of services.
According to the schedule issued by the Railway Administration, 42 train services will be cancelled, while 25 trains will operate on diverted routes during the affected period.
42 Trains Cancelled
Among the major services cancelled on specified dates are:
– 12116/12115 SUR–CSMT Express / CSMT–SUR Express
– 12114/12113 NGP–Pune Express / Pune–NGP Express
– 11041/11042 DR–SNSI Express / SNSI–DR Express
– 12169/12170 Pune–SUR Express / SUR–Pune Express
– 22105/22106 CSMT–Pune Express / Pune–CSMT Express
– 11007/11008 CSMT–Pune Express / Pune–CSMT Express
– 11029/11030 CSMT–KOP Express / KOP–CSMT Express
– Several Pune–Daund, Pune–Baramati, Daund–Pune and Pune suburban services.
The cancellations cover different dates, with several services affected on October 3 and 4, when the major commissioning work is scheduled.
25 Trains to Run on Diverted Routes
Several long-distance trains will bypass affected sections through alternative routes.
Among them are Pune–Howrah Express, Howrah–Pune Express, Pune–Jammu Tawi Express, CSMT–Chennai Express, NZM–Vasco da Gama Express, CSMT–Bhubaneswar Express, Pune–Banaras Express, CSMT–Bidar Express and LTT–Coimbatore Express.
Depending on the service, diversions will be routed through corridors including Lonavala–Karjat–Panvel–Kalyan–Igatpuri–Manmad, Pune–Satara–Miraj–Pandharpur–Kurduwadi–Solapur, and Daund–Ahilyanagar–Manmad–Igatpuri–Kalyan.
The diversion dates vary by train, with several services affected between September 19 and October 4.
Several Trains to Short Terminate or Originate
A number of trains will not operate over their full scheduled routes.
These include services such as:

– 12493/12494 Miraj–NZM Express
Depending on the date, these trains will terminate or originate from stations including Khadki, Daund, Kurduwadi, Jejuri, Satara and Shivajinagar.
Trains to Face En-Route Regulation
Several services will also be held en route during the block period. The affected sections include Patas–Uruli, Chinchwad–Khadki, Daund–Loni and Lonavala–Pune.
Regulation periods range from around 30 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes for specified services. Some trains, including the CSMT–Solapur Vande Bharat, will also face regulation on particular dates.
Departure Timings Changed for Several Services
The Railway Administration has also rescheduled departures of several trains.
Among the affected services are Pune–Howrah Express, Pune–Jammu Tawi Express, Pune–Nagpur Express, Pune–Solapur Express, Pune–Howrah Express (12129), Pune–Darbhanga Express, Pune–Ajni Express and Pune–Ernakulam Express.
For example, Pune–Howrah Express (12221) on September 21 will depart Pune at 5 pm, 1 hour 45 minutes later than its scheduled departure.
The departure of Pune–Ernakulam Express on October 4 has been rescheduled to 7:15 pm, while LTT–Kakinada Port Express on September 21 will be regulated by up to 1 hour 40 minutes in the Daund–Loni section.
Passengers travelling during the affected period have been advised to check the latest running status and revised timings of their trains before starting their journey through the Indian Railways enquiry system or NTES app.
The changes will remain applicable according to the respective Journey Commencing On (JCO) dates specified by the Railway Administration.
The detailed cancellation, diversion, short termination/origination, regulation and rescheduling plan has been issued in connection with the commissioning work for the Hadapsar–Ghorpadi third line.
