Pune, 6th April 2024: In Pune and neighbouring regions, there’s a forecast for heatwave conditions in certain districts of Vidarbha and Marathwada for two days, attributed to hot winds from North India, with a notable rise in minimum temperatures. Post the 7th, cloudy weather may prevail for the ensuing four days, with a likelihood of thunderstorms in Vidarbha, Marathwada, and some districts of Central Maharashtra.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding heatwave conditions, particularly in Vidarbha over Saturday and Sunday. This could lead to a heatwave affecting specific areas like Chandrapur, Yavatmal, and Amravati in Vidarbha, and Nanded, Hingoli, and Parbhani in Marathwada.

Meteorologist Anupam Kashyapi indicated that northward humidity may induce cloudy conditions in Central Maharashtra and Vidarbha post-Sunday. A cautionary note has been raised for hailstorms in Nanded-Hingoli district. In Vidarbha, there’s a possibility of hailstorms in certain areas spanning the Washim, Amravati, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Wardha districts. Expect very light to light rainfall during this timeframe. Additionally, light rainfall is anticipated in the state on Monday and Tuesday, potentially leading to a drop in temperature.

Looking ahead, the maximum temperature in Pune and adjacent regions is expected to be around 39 degrees Celsius. Cloudy skies are anticipated post-Sunday, with thunderstorms likely from Tuesday evening onwards. Light rain might occur in a few locales over the next two days. Kashyapi has suggested a significant likelihood of light rain on Gudi Padwa, i.e., April 9. Early morning fog is expected on Saturday and Sunday.
