Pune: Rainwater Floods Waiting Hall at Sassoon Hospital; Relatives of Patients Inconvenienced

Pune, 28th May 2025: Relatives of patients at Sassoon General Hospital in Pune are facing major inconvenience as rainwater entered the waiting hall of Block No. 13. Due to leakage from the sheeted roof, water is accumulating directly inside the hall, leaving seating areas soaked and unusable.
This situation has sparked strong dissatisfaction among the relatives, who are already stressed while caring for their patients. The lack of shelter from rain has forced many people to remain standing, with elderly individuals and women suffering the most due to the discomfort.
One of the relatives expressed frustration, saying, “We come here to take care of our loved ones, but rainwater floods the hall and everything gets wet. This problem has persisted for years, yet no action is taken.”
The distressed relatives have demanded immediate action from hospital authorities, urging them to repair the drainage system and rooftop gutters to prevent water from seeping into the waiting area.
So far, the hospital administration has not issued any official statement regarding the matter. However, with the onset of the monsoon, addressing such issues with urgency has become critical to ensure basic comfort and safety for patient families.
