Pune, 13th January 2025: According to the latest TomTom Traffic Index for 2024, Pune has secured the 4th position globally in terms of average travel time, highlighting the city’s significant traffic congestion issues. This comprehensive study, which evaluates 500 cities across 62 countries, provides crucial insights into urban mobility challenges worldwide.

Key findings for Pune:
1. Global Ranking: Pune ranks 4th in the world for average travel time, indicating severe traffic congestion.
2. Average Travel Time: It takes approximately 33 minutes and 22 seconds to travel 10 kilometres in Pune.
3. Improvement: Pune has shown a slight improvement, with travel times decreasing by 1 minute compared to 2023.
4. Congestion Level: The city experiences a congestion level of 34%.
5. Time Lost: Pune residents lose about 108 hours per year during rush hours due to traffic congestion.
6. World Congestion Ranking: Pune ranks 128th globally in terms of overall congestion levels.
