Pune: Residents of Ivy Estate, Wagholi, Struggle with Contaminated Water Supply for Two Months
Wagholi, 8th March 2025: Residents of Ivy Estate in Wagholi are facing a severe water crisis as their supply has been contaminated for the past two months. Complaints to the authorities have gone unanswered, leaving hundreds of families struggling with black, foul-smelling water laden with dirt and mud.
Residents report that despite repeated complaints, no corrective action has been taken. “The water smells awful and has a blackish tint. Even after filtering, it remains undrinkable. Our water purifiers are getting damaged within a week,” said a resident on condition of anonymity.
The contamination has also led to health issues among locals. “Many in our society, including children and senior citizens, are suffering from skin allergies and stomach infections. We have no choice but to use this water,” another resident shared.
With no alternative supply, the situation has worsened. “We are forced to rely on the contaminated water for daily needs, which is extremely risky. The authorities must act before this turns into a full-blown health crisis,” said a concerned resident.
Residents urge immediate intervention from municipal authorities to resolve the crisis.
For now, the wait for clean water continues.
