Pune: Residents Raise Concerns Over Reckless Car Stunts on Ravet Playground, Demand strict action

Pune,19th March 2026: A video circulating on social media has brought to light alleged incidents of reckless cars drifting on a public playground in Ravet, prompting residents to demand stricter enforcement from the police.

Locals said the ground, primarily used by children and families for recreational activities, has increasingly been taken over by motorists driving high-end vehicles, including SUVs such as the Mahindra Thar, who allegedly use the space to perform stunts. Residents pointed out that such activities not only pose a threat to public safety but also disrupt the peace of the area.

One of the residents said “The area already lacks dedicated playgrounds and if the ones available are also used for such illegal acts then it is not good. The police and authorities must act on it.”

According to residents, complaints have been repeatedly lodged with the police control room, but the issue continued unabated. The situation gained wider attention after a video showing cars drifting on the ground surfaced online and were widely shared.

In an attempt to deter such behaviour, local resident associations have installed banners at the site, warning that stunt driving and drifting are prohibited and that those violating the rules would face legal consequences.

Police officials acknowledged that the matter came to their notice following the circulation of the videos. A senior officer said patrolling in the area has been intensified in recent days to curb such incidents and prevent further misuse of the ground.

Residents have called for sustained monitoring and stricter action, stating that occasional patrolling may not be sufficient to address the problem in the long run.
