Pune Ring Road, Missing Links Get Priority as Minister Madhuri Misal Directs PMRDA to Tackle Mounting Urban Woes
Pune, 26th June 2025: In response to the escalating urban challenges faced by Pune and its surrounding areas, Minister of State Madhuri Misal has directed the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to take concrete steps toward resolving these issues. She emphasized the need for focused planning and faster implementation of development works to improve civic amenities and reduce traffic congestion.
The directive came during a review meeting held on Thursday at the PMRDA headquarters in Akurdi, where PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase briefed the minister on the current and proposed infrastructure projects under the authority’s jurisdiction.
“Urban problems are mounting rapidly in Pune. Citizens are increasingly frustrated by poor civic facilities and growing traffic woes. PMRDA must take a proactive and strategic approach to address these concerns,” said Misal during the meeting.
Commissioner Mhase, along with Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan, presented a detailed update on key projects including:
The Missing Link road works
Industrial and ring road connectivity
Development of tourism and religious sites
Urban growth centers
Infrastructure upgrades in peripheral areas
The meeting also reviewed the current status of Pune Ring Road development and other road network improvement initiatives that aim to boost mobility across the metropolitan region. Officials highlighted ongoing efforts aligned with the Chief Minister’s 100-day goal plan and presented a roadmap for the upcoming 150-day action program.
Misal urged the department to ensure time-bound completion of all ongoing projects and to accelerate the planning and execution of new ones to meet the evolving needs of the growing urban population.
Senior PMRDA officials including Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla, SP and Vigilance Officer Amol Tambe, Director of Planning Sunil Marle, Joint Commissioner Poonam Mehta, Financial Controller Padmashree Taldekar, and other key department heads were present during the discussion.
