Pune, 8th May 2026: The Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) industry in Pune is set to resume full-scale operations starting tomorrow, May 9, 2026. The announcement was made today by the Pune RMC Association following an internal meeting with over 300 members and successful discussions with district authorities.

The resumption comes after a period of coordination with the district administration to resolve ongoing industry issues. The Association expressed its gratitude to District Collector Jitendra Duddi, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram, and ACP (Traffic) Manoj Patil for their roles in formulating a uniform and practical Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for RMC operations across the district.

New Citizen Helpline Initiative
In a significant move toward public accountability, the Association is launching a dedicated toll-free helpline for citizens and authorities. This initiative is designed to address public concerns regarding the movement of RMC transit mixers. Citizens are encouraged to report any of the following:
Violations of traffic rules by transit mixers.
Rash or unsafe driving.
Dust or noise pollution caused by vehicles or RMC plants.
Any activities creating an environmental or public nuisance.

The Association stated that all complaints received on the helpline (number to be announced shortly) will be addressed in coordination with the relevant government authorities.

Commitment to Sustainable Growth
In his statement, Mr. Pradip Popatrao Walhekar, President of the Pune RMC Association, emphasized the industry’s role in the city’s development. “Concrete is the second most consumed material globally after water. The RMC industry is not a problem; it is an integral part of the sustainable solution for the construction sector,” Walhekar said.

The Association also acknowledged the support of major industry bodies including CREDAI, NAREDCO, and the Builders Association of India (BAI), noting that the unity of both local and national RMC players was instrumental in reaching this resolution.

Operations will resume in strict compliance with the newly issued guidelines from the MPCB, PMC, PCMC, and PMRDA, ensuring a balance between infrastructure growth and environmental responsibility.
