Pune: Road Collapse in Mayur Kilbil Society, Dhanori: Heavy Rains Trigger Landslide and Waterlogging

Dhanori, 25th July 2024: The internal road in Mayur Kilbil Society, Dhanori, is waterlogged due to recent rains. Four to five months ago, a neighbouring builder began construction on a new building, weakening that section of the road. The heavy rainfall since yesterday caused a significant gap to form, leading to the road collapsing around 4 AM today and triggering a landslide.
Fortunately, residents blocked the road upon discovering the issue early, preventing any harm. Approximately 2,000 people use this road daily. With no support beneath it, a large space is now visible.
Nagnath Dhole, a resident, mentioned that they halted all vehicles in the morning to avoid accidents, as about 25 school buses pass through this area daily.
Tapan Das, another resident, noted that the road is severely hollowed out, posing a risk of serious accidents if any vehicle had driven through. He emphasized the need for builders to be cautious during construction.
Triaa Housing’s site supervisor, Prabhakar Mahajan, stated that the road’s condition resulted from heavy rains. He assured us that once the rains stop, the road will be properly repaired within ten to fifteen days.
