Pune: Road Mishaps Rock Pimpri Chinchwad: Woman Killed, Two Injured in Separate Accidents

Pimpri Chinchwad, 7th May 2024: In recent days, three accidents occurred in Pimpri Chinchwad, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to two other individuals in three separate incidents. These incidents were reported and registered at the Shirgaon, Sangvi, and MIDC Bhosari Police Stations on Monday, May 6th.
Shirgaon Police Station –
Under the Shirgaon Police Station jurisdiction, on the Shirgaon to Kasarsai Road, an unknown vehicle struck an elderly pedestrian woman on Sunday (May 5th), at 5:45 PM. The woman succumbed to her injuries in this hit-and-run incident. The deceased has been identified as Hirabai Sahebrao More, aged 70, a resident of Maval. Kanhaiyya Maruti Sorate, aged 30 and also a resident of Maval, filed a complaint at the Shirgaon Police Station.
A case has been registered against the unknown driver under IPC sections 304 (A) (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), as well as the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, as the accused fled the scene without stopping or providing information about the incident. Police Constable Dhaygude from the Shirgaon Police Station is currently investigating this matter further.
Sangvi Police Station
Under the jurisdiction of the Sangvi Police Station, an accident occurred at Swarajya Garden Chowk on Sunday at 11:30 PM. In this incident, Abhaysingh Dattatraya Shedge, aged 41 and a resident of Pimple Saudagar, sustained injuries and filed a complaint at the Sangvi Police Station. Shedge was driving his car when another car approached from the front and collided with his vehicle, causing damage.
A case has been registered against Amir Jafar Mulani, aged 21 and a resident of Chikhali, under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), as well as the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. Police Sub Inspector Chapale from the Sangvi Police Station is currently investigating this matter further.
MIDC Bhosari Police Station
Under the jurisdiction of the MIDC Bhosari Police Station, an accident occurred on Dehu Alandi Road on 1st May 2024, at around 10 AM. In this incident, Rushikesh Shashikant Sonawane, aged 22 and a resident of Chikhali, sustained injuries and filed a complaint at the MIDC Bhosari Police Station. The accused in this case was driving his vehicle recklessly when he collided with the pedestrian complainant.
A case has been registered against Vinayakdada Bhau Ghenand, a resident of Vadgaon Ghenand, Khed, under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), as well as the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.
