Pune Road Rage: Autorickshaw Driver Assaults Car Owner, Leaves Him With Fractured Hand
Wadgaon Budruk, 23rd August 2025: A 55-year-old fabricator from Warje sustained a fracture to his right hand after being assaulted by an autorickshaw driver in Wadgaon Budruk on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the incident took place on Prayeja City Road, where the victim’s car was allegedly grazed by an autorickshaw. The driver then confronted the car owner, leading to a heated altercation.
“The autorickshaw driver forced the complainant to roll down his car window and began abusing him. He also threatened to kill the victim during the argument,” an officer from Sinhagad Road police station said.
The complainant, according to police, initially tried to calm down the situation. However, the autorickshaw driver allegedly punched him. “When the victim raised his hand outside the window to shield himself, the accused twisted it, causing a fracture,” the officer added.
The injured fabricator later approached Sinhagad Road police on Thursday to file a formal complaint. A case has been registered against the autorickshaw driver under sections 115 and 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
“We have served a notice to the autorickshaw driver to cooperate with the investigation,” the officer said.
