Pune Road Rage: Family Attacked in Mundhwa Over Honking; Attackers Arrested

Mundhwa, 10th January 2025: A shocking incident of road rage occurred in Pune’s Mundhwa area when a family was attacked for honking in traffic. The incident took place around 9 pm on Mundhwa-Koregaon Park Road and has raised concerns about public safety among citizens.

Rajesh Nathoba Waghchoure, the complainant, was driving with his wife, Suvarna, and daughter, Sanskruti, towards Koregaon Park when he honked at the car ahead due to traffic congestion. This seemingly routine act enraged the occupants of the vehicle in front, identified as Raju Gaikwad and his son, Shubham Gaikwad.

The Gaikwads exited their vehicle and began an argument with the Waghchoure family. The confrontation quickly escalated into a violent attack. The Gaikwads verbally abused the family and physically assaulted them using a tiger claw-shaped weapon. Rajesh Waghchoure sustained serious injuries, while his wife and daughter were also hurt during the attack. In addition, the attackers vandalized the family’s car.

Eyewitnesses reported that several bystanders tried to intervene, but the attackers remained aggressive. Mundhwa police arrived at the scene promptly after being alerted about the incident. They arrested both Raju and Shubham Gaikwad on the spot.

The police have registered a case against the attackers and launched an investigation. Preliminary reports suggest that the Gaikwads have a history of criminal activities, further intensifying the gravity of the incident.
