Talegaon, 30th April 2024: A theft at the booking cabin of Begdewadi Railway Station, near Talegaon in Pune district, occurred in the dead of night on April 22. Approximately Rs 12,000 in cash was stolen. Prompt action by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has resulted in the arrest of two suspects, one of whom is a notorious individual with a history of criminal activities across the Pune district.

Following the discovery of the theft, a complaint was lodged with the Chinchwad Railway Protection Force (RPF) Post. Senior RPF Inspector Amit Kumar Yadav wasted no time in deploying his team to launch a thorough investigation aimed at apprehending the perpetrators.

Senior RPF Inspector Yadav informed that the initial breakthrough in the case came through meticulous scrutiny of CCTV footage. The footage shows three individuals in the crime.

Thanks to valuable intelligence from an informant, one of the suspects, identified as Firoz Hashmi, was caught near the Indrayani River embankment, close to the Kund Mala spot. Subsequent interrogation of Hashmi led to the identification of two other suspects, namely Sunil Talware and Kailash.

Further investigation uncovered that Talware, a known offender with a history of criminal activities related to theft, had masterminded the operation. Exploiting the absence of personnel during weekends due to bank closures, Talware meticulously planned the theft and enlisted the help of his accomplices.

During interrogation, Talware admitted his involvement in the crime and divulged crucial information that led to the recovery of Rs 6,120 in stolen cash. However, the third suspect, Kailash, remains at large.

This action was undertaken under the guidance of Senior RPF Inspector Amit Kumar Yadav by his team comprising SIPF DN Lad, HC Santosh Bandal, CT Shripad Yavalkar, and RB Jadhav.
