Pune, 15th October 2026: The Regional Passport Office (RPO), Pune, issued passports to 52 students from Zilla Parishad schools in Pune district within 24 hours to facilitate their upcoming NASA/ESA exposure visit.

The students, selected for the international educational visit, participated in an interactive session titled ‘Samvaad’ organised by RPO Pune on 14th October 2026 under the Students and Ministry of External Affairs Engagement Programme (SAMEEP).

During the interaction, Regional Passport Officer Dr. Vinod Gaikwad spoke to the students about passport services and the importance of passports for international travel. Drawing on his experience in the Indian Foreign Service, he also discussed international affairs, global opportunities and cross-cultural learning.

The session was attended by Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Gajanan Patil, Additional Chief Executive Officer Chandrakant Waghmare and teachers accompanying the students.

The RPO expedited the passport issuance process for all 52 students, completing it within 24 hours ahead of their scheduled educational visit. The initiative was aimed at ensuring that the students could complete the necessary travel documentation in time for the programme.

The NASA/ESA exposure visit is expected to provide the selected students with an opportunity to gain international exposure. The interaction also covered the role of passports in enabling international travel and access to opportunities abroad.

The programme was organised as part of SAMEEP, an initiative through which the Ministry of External Affairs engages with students to familiarise them with India’s foreign policy, international relations and the work of the ministry.
