Pune: RTE Admission Process Begins, School Registrations Open On RTE Portal

Pune, 18th December 2024: The School Education Department has initiated the school registration process on the Right to Education (RTE) portal starting Wednesday (18th December) for the admission of children under the 25% reserved quota as mandated by the RTE Act.
This step aims to streamline the RTE admission process, which often faces delays due to procedural obstacles. By starting school registrations early, the department intends to ensure a smooth and timely admission process this year. Once the schools complete their registrations, parents will be allowed to register applications for their children.
The selection list for admissions, expected to be announced through a lottery system in March, will pave the way for the entire admission process to be completed by June or July for the first time. This will allow classes for children admitted under the RTE Act to commence on time.
Sharad Gosavi, Director of Education (Primary Education), stated that the state government has approved the proposal to begin the RTE admission process for the academic year 2025-26. The registration process for unaided English-medium schools on the portal will be open for approximately three weeks. Following this, the registration of children’s applications is scheduled to begin in the first week of January.
This revised schedule is expected to resolve past delays and ensure that children admitted under the RTE quota can seamlessly integrate into the academic calendar.
