Pune, 17th August 2024: Under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE), the admission process for 23,850 students on the waiting list for 25% reserved seats has been announced. This waiting list admission process is planned to be completed by 26th August.

Sharad Gosavi, Director of Primary Education, provided this information. The RTE admission process is being managed by the Directorate of Primary Education. This year, 1,05,242 seats are available across 9,217 schools in the state. Out of 2,42,516 applications received, 93,009 students were admitted. The waiting list includes 71,276 students.

Initially, after providing the opportunity for admission from 23rd to 31st July, the deadline was extended twice. Following the lottery-based admissions, it was decided to offer places to students on the waiting list. According to data on the RTE website, a total of 61,193 students had confirmed their admission by yesterday evening, leaving more than 44,000 seats still vacant.

Having given ample opportunity to regular students, admissions are now being offered to those on the waiting list. Accordingly, 23,850 students from the first waiting list have been selected for admission. Gosavi stated that the admission process for waiting list students will be completed by 26th August.
