Pune RTO Instructs Tarpaulin Cover For Transport Of Sand, Soil, Gravel

Pune, 4th April 2023: The Regional Transport Officer, Dr. Ajit Shinde, has issued instructions for the transportation of minor minerals such as sand, soil, and gravel.
Dr. Shinde has mandated that vehicles transporting these materials must be covered with tarpaulin to prevent spills and accidents on the road. He also warned that action will be taken against vehicles that transport secondary minerals beyond their capacity.
Uncovered vehicles transporting minor minerals like sand, soil, and gravel pose a significant risk to road safety as they can spill onto the road, causing accidents. Dust blown from these vehicles can also impair drivers’ vision, leading to accidents.
Under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, driving a vehicle with more than its capacity is an offense. A special campaign will be launched to monitor vehicles transporting minerals, and drivers have been urged to prioritize road safety by following these guidelines.
