Pune: RTO Officials Appeal Not To Use Illegal Passenger Apps For Travelling

Pune, 10th January 2023: Bike taxis are facing strong opposition across Maharashtra. Recently, the regional transport department (RTO) has faced a challenge from illegal taxi mobile applications running with the name ‘bla bla’.
The amount is auctioned among the drivers to take the passenger for the least money. As there is no official information available about the driver-owner-passenger, this could prove dangerous or fatal for passengers.
Therefore, RTO officials have appealed not to use taxis available through such apps. Also, RTO has filed an appeal against the use of this illegal app because it puts passengers’ safety at risk.
To go from one place to the desired place, one has to post on this application. After that, bidding begins to determine which driver is willing to take the passenger for the lowest price. If the passenger does not quote the expected amount, the driver asks them how much they are willing to pay. After that, if the driver agrees to the amount stated by the passenger, their journey begins.
There have been cases in the past where many people have been robbed. In the past, three women in Pimpri-Chinchwad have been raped and killed after being put in a car as passengers and driven away from their location. Considering the overall passenger safety and illegal passenger traffic, the Regional Transport Department has started exploring various applications that operate in this manner.
Citizens are also starting to use such applications as they get to travel with less money, and this is predicting the possibility of facing a serious incident. On the other hand, they are seated as passengers and looting, scuffles, and harassment are seen taking place. Therefore, passengers are requested to use the official passenger service. So far, no complaint has been made to the police about any unexpected and inappropriate incident while travelling using this application. As a result, the police do not have any information about such activity.
