Pune Running to host 4th Pune Running Beyond Myself 2016

Pune, 6th October, 2016: Pune Running, a city based non – profit organization that creates awareness about benefits of running and fitness among people, will be organizing the 4th edition of ‘Pune Running Beyond Myself 2016’ (PRBM 2016), a Run Marathon on Sunday, 16th October 2016. With an addition of new category of 42km run, a special Charity Walk will also be organised during this Marathon. Indian Olympian Heena Sidhu will be present for the prize distribution ceremony of PRBM 2016 and cash prizes of Rs. 25 thousand, 15 thousand and 10 thousand will be awarded to first, second and third winner respectively. This was announced by Arvind Bijwe, Race Director of PRBM 2016 in a Press Conference recently held in a city. Management Committee members of Pune Running Priti Arwade, Sandeep Kolatkar, Sudhir Darode, Nikhil Shah, Vinod Satav, Vikas Kumar, Rakesh Mehta were also present on the occasion.

While sharing the details about the event, Priti Arwade said, “In PRBM 2016, participants can choose to run Full Marathon or Walk and Run Marathon in five different categories between 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, 21 km and 42 km. Except 42 km Full Marathon, all the races will start from Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Mahalunge, Balewadi at 5:00 am. 42 km Marathon will start from Shaniwar Wada at 5:00 am and end at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Balewadi. Minimum age for participation is 12 years.”

Sandeep Kolatkar added, “We are very happy to see the increasing number of running enthusiasts participating in the ‘Pune Running Beyond Myself’ event. This is the fourth edition of this event and we are expecting more than 10000 participants, including national level and Comrades Marathon runners. The objective behind organizing this event is to make Pune a running city and to encourage large number of people to take up running as a fitness activity especially women.”

Pune Running is one of the biggest groups of fitness and running enthusiasts which aims to create awareness of fitness through running. The principal objective of the organization is to make people aware at large that if running is taken up regularly as exercise, improves physical and mental health, boosts confidence, increases immunity and helps prevent diseases, lose weight, relieves stress and make new friends. An event of this type and scale generates a lot of interest and enthusiasm and has the potential to inspire an entire community to take up running as an integral part of life.

Pune Running, formed in 2010 have been closely involved with charity organizations like KEM Hospital and SOFOSH to raise and contribute funds for social cause. This year also the funds raised through PRBM 2016 will be given to organisations such as Muskaan, Shishuadhar, India Sponsorship Committee, Greensole and Olympic Gold Quest.

The event will be conducted from Balewadi Stadium complex from 5:00 am onward and the managing committee has urged citizens of Pune to come out on streets and encourage the participants not just from Pune, but also from Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad and cities of Maharashtra and make this event a pride of Pune city.
