Pune Rural Police’s Inspector Avinash Shilimkar Honored With DG Insignia Medal For Distinguished Service

Pune, 1st May 2024: In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the police force, Senior Inspector Avinash Shilimkar of Pune Rural Police’s Local Crime Branch (LCB) has been awarded the prestigious DG Insignia Medal. This accolade is for the police officers with outstanding records of service, and Shilimkar’s dedication to duty has earned him this esteemed recognition.
A native of Bhor Taluka in Pune district, Shilimkar began his career in the police force as a Sub-inspector in 1993. Over the past 31 years, he has served across various districts in Maharashtra, including Vidarbha Region, where he played a crucial role in apprehending criminals involved in heinous crimes, ensuring their incarceration. His exemplary service has been acknowledged with over 450 awards, reflecting his significant contributions to the Maharashtra Police and the public at large.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Shilimkar demonstrated remarkable leadership and compassion by providing support to numerous families in accessing timely medical assistance. His dedication to public welfare and his fellow police team has earned him widespread recognition.
In appreciation of his capabilities and performance, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Pune Rural Police has entrusted Shilimkar with the responsibility of leading the Local Crime Branch. Throughout his tenure, Shilimkar has played a pivotal role in solving high-profile cases, including the murder of seven members of a family whose bodies were found in a riverbed in the Yawat area and the tragic killing of a young girl in Velhe, Rajgad, who had recently cleared the Maharashtra Public Service Commission examination (MPSC).
