Pune: Rusted Cylinder Cause Of Chlorine Gas Leak In Kasarwadi, Multiple People Rushed To YCM Hospital For Treatment
Pune 10th Oct 2023: The fire brigade officials of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation have confirmed that that rusted cylinder was the main cause of chlorine gas leakage reported in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Swimming Pool at Kasarwadi area earlier today. The officials said that the cylinder was rusted as it must have been kept at one place and not checked for a long time due to which a hole was formed in it.
The fire brigade team that reached the spot used Breathing Apparatus set equipment to handle the situation as everyone inside and around the swimming pool were suffering from breathing problems. The area was cordoned off as precaution and a total of 27 officials from the main building of the Pimpri Chinchwad fire brigade and Bhosari fire brigade station were involved in the operation.
The fire brigade team was informed about the incident at around 8:38 am. The chlorine in the cylinder that was leaking was used to clean the water in the swimming pool. A total of over 20 people inside the swimming pool had suffered the problems and many of them were rushed to the hospital. The residential areas around the swimming pool also complained of breathing issues. However, the prompt action by the fire brigade team further averted the major incident.
