Pune: Sade Satranali Residents to Hold Protest Over Lack of Basic Amenities
Hadapsar, 12th July 2025: Fed up with eight years of neglect by the administration, residents of Sade Satranali, a village incorporated into the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits in 2017, are set to stage a peaceful protest on Sunday, July 13. The demonstration, organized by Kranti Shetkari Sanghatana, will be led by its founding president, Amol Nana Yashwant Tupe, and will take place at Sade Satranali Chowk at 11 am.
Despite being part of the PMC for nearly a decade, the village continues to lack essential civic amenities, including drinking water, drivable roads, stable electricity supply, healthcare services, and public sanitation infrastructure. The long-standing issues have triggered growing anger and frustration among villagers.
Key Grievances Raised by Residents
No clean drinking water supply has been arranged since the inclusion in PMC limits.
Dilapidated roads have made local transport hazardous and hinder emergency services.
Frequent power outages disrupt daily life, especially during summers and monsoons.
No primary healthcare center or regular medical services are available in the area.
Lack of proper sanitation has led to a surge in seasonal and waterborne diseases.
House tax and other civic charges are being collected regularly, but without service delivery in return.
“We have submitted several complaints and followed up with the authorities, but no action has been taken. This is not just neglect — it’s a denial of basic rights to citizens,” said Amol Tupe, adding that the protest will be non-violent but firm in its demands.
Legal Action and Hunger Strike Threatened
Amol Tupe has also issued a warning that if the demands are not met, the organization will approach the court and may also launch a hunger strike at the main entrance of Pune Municipal Corporation. “If citizens are denied the minimum facilities while taxes are still being collected, the administration must be held accountable,” he said.
Protest to See Large Participation
A large number of villagers, women, and farmers from the area are expected to join Sunday’s protest. The Kranti Shetkari Sanghatana has emphasized that the agitation will be completely peaceful, aimed at urging the civic body to finally act on long-pending issues.
