Pune: School Bus Runs Over Child, FIR Registered Against Driver, School Owner
Fursungi, 4th December 2025: A five-year-old boy died on the spot and his mother sustained serious injuries after a school bus fatally struck them in the Uruli Devachi area on the Hadapsar–Saswad Road on Tuesday morning. Police have registered a case against four individuals, including the bus driver and the founder of Modak International School.
The deceased has been identified as Sainath Tulshiram Bhangare, a resident of Ganraj Heights in Uruli Devachi. His mother, Rekha Tulshiram Bhangare (28), is currently undergoing treatment. She has lodged a complaint at the Fursungi police station, Pune city police.
Police said the arrested accused has been identified as bus driver Sanskar Anil Bhosale from Pandavnagar in Vadki. A case has also been filed against Modak International School’s founder Sanjay Vasant Modak, principal Dr. Aarti Jadhav, and bus owner Manisha Sanjay Modak.
The Bhangare family is originally from Kandhar taluka in Nanded district. Sainath was enrolled in the infant section at a local school in Uruli Devachi. The incident occurred when Rekha was walking her son to school. A bus from Modak International School had arrived near Savli Homes Society to pick up children. While reversing, the driver allegedly failed to notice the mother and child behind the vehicle, hitting them with force.
Both were rushed to a private hospital by local residents, but the child succumbed to his injuries as a wheel of the bus ran over his head.
Senior Inspector Amol More and Police Inspector Rajesh Khande reached the spot soon after the accident. Assistant Inspector Kishore Pawar is leading the investigation.
Following the incident, grieving relatives and local residents gathered at the Fursungi police station, carrying the child’s body and demanding strict action against the school administration and those responsible. The police later registered offences against the four accused based on the family’s complaint.
