Pune – SCREENING OF PATRIOTIC VIDEOS AT NATIONAL WAR MEMORIAL & SOUTHERN COMMAND MUSEUM

The National War Memorial is the only war memorial in South Asia that has been erected through citizens contributions with names of post-independence martyrs belonging to the Indian Army, Navy and Airforce hailing from Maharashtra inscribed on marble. The memorial is 18 meter high tower dressed in cherry brown granite with marble panels carrying names of the martyrs on three sides who laid down their lives in action since 15 August 1947 till post Kargil casualties inscribed on marble. This ionic place remains one of the main attraction for Puneites who turn out in large numbers every Saturday to witness the wreath laying ceremony for the soldiers for the sacrifices they made for the nation.

There was an air of excitement for the visitors towards screening of patriotic videos at National War Memorial and Southern Command Museum. The patriotic videos provided the visitors an insight in to the pivotal role of Indian Army in various fields. The objective behind screening of videos is to imbibe patriotic fervor and instill confidence in the minds of the visitors.

The 30 minutes video screening left the audiences awestruck and received an overwhelming response from them. Visitors were heard chanting ‘JAI HIND’ and ‘BHARAT MATA KI JAI’ and other nationalist slogans after culmination of the screening.

In coming months a light and sound show to depict glorious history of the Southern Command since its inception and martial history of Indian Army covering various operations, war and battles will also be showcased for the visitors.
