Pune: Senior Police Inspector Gajanan Pawar Awarded Police Medal For Gallantry

Pune, January 25, 2021: Senior Police Inspector Gajanan Pawar of Vimantal police station, Pune city police, has been awarded Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) on the eve of Republic Day by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). In 2011, he had got DGP’s insignia while in 2019 he was awarded the President’s Police Medal.

Inspector Pawar hails from Ahmednagar district. He joined Maharashtra Police as a Police Sub Inspector (PSI) in 1995. In his service, he has worked with police units of Mumbai, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, State CID as well as Crime Branch of Pune city police. Till now he has received 475 rewards in his police service.

In November 2018, Inspector Pawar, who was then posted with Crime Branch Unit 2 of Pune Police, suffered bullet injuries when he went to catch two murder suspects at Pune Railway Station. He had suffered bullet injuries near the jaw and lungs. Later the two suspects were arrested.
