Pune: Service Roads On Mumbai-Kolhapur Highway Forms Streams Due To Unseasonal Rain; Citizens Demand Completion Of Road Work Before Monsoon Starts

Pune, 14th April 2023: On the Mumbai Kolhapur highway, the service roads that were constructed along the highway passing through the municipal limits were difficult to navigate due to unseasonal rains on Thursday (13th April).
Since the water from the highway, as well as the high places in the area from Chandni Chowk to Bavdhan was coming down to this place, the water getting collected on service roads looked like streams.
Despite the repeated complaints of the locals to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), no measures are being taken to drain the water coming from the highway by constructing rain gutters. As a result, the properties are getting damaged due to water entering here.
Coming from Chandni Chowk towards Pashan there is a steep incline. In this area, there are service roads in the Bavdhan area and there are many private properties beside them. It has various societies, showrooms, and commercial centres. Citizens going towards Bavdhan and Paud face a lot of traffic on these service roads. Also, citizens living in this place use these roads extensively.
However, since there are no rain drains along these roads, these roads take the form of streams during monsoons. Due to the unseasonal rain on Thursday (13th April), many showrooms and societies in this area were flooded with water from highways and high places. As the water coming from the service road was not drained, it affected the properties of this area.
Local citizens are demanding that the municipal corporation should complete the work of the rain drains and drain the rainwater coming on the service roads even before the rainy season.
