Pune: Shivneri Bus Collision with Cargo Truck Sparks Chaos on Expressway

Kiwale, 14th February 2024: A potentially catastrophic accident was narrowly avoided on the Mumbai Pune Expressway as a Shivneri bus collided with a cargo truck near the Kiwale exit at Km 94. Fortunately, all 26 passengers on board the bus escaped unhurt.

The incident occurred when the speeding Shivneri bus hit a cargo truck from behind on a sharp incline at Km 94 Kiwale exit. The collision resulted in a traffic jam along the expressway.

The cargo truck, laden with plastic, overturned after the accident, and the Shivneri bus sustained significant damage. The bus, en route from Thane to Swargate, was unable to control its speed on the steep slope, leading to the collision. The cargo truck was heading towards Sangli.

While there were no reported casualties among the passengers, the accident caused a substantial disruption in traffic flow on the Pune lane of the highway. The Highway Police are currently working alongside the highway and Ravet police are to clear the wreckage and restore normalcy on the expressway.
