Pune, 17th April 2023: Sinhagad Express (11010) has become a topic of controversy among passengers due to frequent arguments between male and female passengers over seating. This is likely due to the reduction of five coaches on the railway, causing dissatisfaction among passengers. The fourth incident of disputes on the Sinhagad Express took place on Monday, 17th April 2023.

Sinhagad Express operates between Pune and Mumbai, departing from Pune Railway Station at 6.05 am and reaching Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Mumbai railway station at 9.53 am. It stops at Khadki, Pimpri, Chinchwad, Lonavla, Khandala, Karjat, Kalyan Junction, Dadar, and reaches Pune railway station at 9.50 pm. The train is known for being convenient for passengers who travel daily between the two metropolises.

Iqbal Mulani, president of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Railway Passenger Association, stated that Sinhagad Express is a crucial train for passengers traveling regularly between Pune and Mumbai. Before the Corona pandemic, the train had 19 coaches, including 13 general, five reserved, and one air-conditioned. However, the train was reduced to 16 coaches during the pandemic by reducing three general coaches. At present, Sinhagad Express has 14 coaches, including eight general, five reserved, and one air-conditioned.

Mulani also said that the railways are making moves to increase the number of coaches on the Sinhagad Express train. However, an official from the Pune Railway Division said that increasing the number of carriages is not possible immediately due to technical difficulties. Nevertheless, it is possible that the railway management will take a decision regarding increasing the number of bogies in the future.

On Monday, a man was caught by the railway police at Chinchwad railway station after arguing with a woman passenger on the train. Iqbal Mulani informed the Chinchwad Railway Police as soon as he received the information that the dispute was going on on the railway. The railway police arrested the man and laid a trap at Karjat and Kalyan to nab one of his accomplices, but the other passenger was not caught by the police
