Pune Skater Jinesh Nanal Wins Shiv Chhatrapati Award for 2023-24

Pune, 16th April 2025: Jinesh Satyan Sheetal Nanal has etched his name into Maharashtra’s sporting history by winning the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Award for 2023-24 — the state’s highest honour for athletes. A pioneer in Inline Freestyle Skating, Jinesh’s journey is a remarkable blend of passion, perseverance, and podium finishes.
With over a decade of dedicated training under the guidance of Coach Ashutosh Jagtap, Jinesh has risen to become one of India’s finest skating talents. His recent international achievement at the World Games Series in Hong Kong (October 11–13, 2024), where he secured one silver and one bronze medal, further solidified his place among the world’s elite. The World Games, conducted under the International Olympic Committee’s patronage, feature top athletes from across the globe — and Jinesh has proven he belongs at the very top.
No stranger to the global stage, Jinesh also represented Team India at the Asian Games in China. Domestically, he has dominated the sport as a five-time consecutive National Champion, holds a National Record, and is currently ranked India’s No. 1 and World No. 7 in his category.
Off the rink, Jinesh shines just as brightly. A third-year Computer Engineering student at MIT College, Pune, he has been awarded a scholarship in recognition of his outstanding achievements in both academics and sports — a rare and inspiring combination.
Reflecting on his student’s achievement, Coach Ashutosh Jagtap said:
“Jinesh’s success is the result of years of grit, focus, and silent determination. He continues to push beyond limits and stands as a role model for the next generation of skaters. This award is not just his victory — it’s a proud moment for the entire Indian skating community.”
The award ceremony will take place on April 18, 2025, at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune. The award will be presented by Governor Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
For young athletes across the country, Jinesh’s journey is a powerful message: when talent is matched with tenacity, legends are born.
