Pune: ‘Smart Atmanirbhar Arsenal for Viksit Bharat 2047’ Released at Southern Command
Pune, 20th November 2025: Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, released the book Smart Atmanirbhar Arsenal for Viksit Bharat 2047, authored by Brig (Dr) Biju Jacob, VSM, during a ceremony held at Headquarters Southern Command.
The book offers valuable insights into India’s defence manufacturing landscape and outlines a roadmap to accelerate innovation while strengthening indigenous capabilities. It provides an in-depth overview of the country’s progress toward self-reliance in ammunition production, highlighting key policy milestones and future pathways for upgrading capabilities.
It further presents a comprehensive blueprint for enhancing India’s ammunition manufacturing ecosystem, integrating emerging technologies, and building secure, resilient supply chains. The work aligns with the national vision of developing India into a globally competitive defence manufacturing hub by 2047.
Lt Gen Seth has written the foreword for the book, echoing the Prime Minister’s vision of JAI — Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation — and underscoring the Indian Army’s ‘Year of Transformation’. He appreciated the author’s scholarly contribution and emphasised the importance of such research in strengthening defence preparedness and supporting India’s march towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
