Pune, 27th April 2024: A 40-year-old architectural designer endured a traumatic encounter on the night of April 24 when he and his wife were subjected to physical violence by three men blocking the entrance of their society in Undri.

Santosh Vishnu Dotul, the victim, and his wife Sumitha were exiting their residence in Sai Vishwa society near The Bishop’s School when they encountered the trio obstructing their path around 9:30 pm. Dotul politely requested the men to step aside, only to be met with hostility.

According to Kondhwa police inspector Mansing Patil, an altercation ensued when Dotul asked the men to move aside. The situation quickly escalated as one of the men initiated a verbal confrontation, culminating in a physical assault. Dotul was forcefully pushed to the ground, sustaining a nose fracture from the ensuing punch. His wife Sumitha was also assaulted when she attempted to intervene.

Patil confirmed that two of the assailants are residents of the same society. The Kondhwa police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and are in the process of summoning the suspects for questioning.

Recalling the ordeal, Dotul expressed how he pleaded with the men to allow him to pass but was met with aggression. Despite his injuries, he managed to retrieve his vehicle keys and drive to Sassoon General Hospital for medical attention.

Dotul has since reported the incident to the authorities and is seeking justice for the unprovoked attack he and his wife endured.
