Pimpri Chinchwad, 4th December 2025: Dighi police have booked a 57-year-old man from Kate Vasti in Haveli taluka for allegedly neglecting his elderly parents and failing to provide mandatory financial support despite a tribunal order.

Police said the complaint was filed by the man’s 82-year-old father on Monday. The accused has been charged under the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act.

According to the police, the complainant and his wife continue to live in the same house as their son and his family. However, the senior citizen claimed he has to rely on neighbours and others for food and daily needs.

“In December 2023, the Senior Citizens Maintenance Tribunal directed the accused to pay ₹5,000 per month to his mother for her upkeep. The complainant alleged that his son has not paid any amount even after the order,” an officer from Dighi police station said.

The elderly man further alleged that the accused pressured him into transferring the ownership of a shop located in Shukrawar Peth. He also claimed that goods worth nearly ₹25 lakh were taken away from the shop without his consent.

Police said an investigation has begun into the allegations. “We are verifying the facts mentioned in the complaint and further action will follow,” the officer added.
