Pune: Special Two-Day Voter Registration Campaign in Chinchwad Assembly Constituency

Chinchwad, 24th November 2023: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, a special two-day campaign has been launched in the Chinchwad assembly constituency to encourage voter registration. The initiative, by the directives of the Election Commission, is aimed at maximizing voter participation. Electoral Registration Officer and Assistant Commissioner of Taxation and Tax Collection Department of PCMC Nilesh Deshmukh, appeals to eligible individuals, especially the youth, and those yet to be registered, to actively participate in this campaign.

The Election Commission of India has introduced a special brief revision program for the electoral roll, considering the eligibility date as January 1, 2024. As part of this program, a ‘Special Camp for Voters Registration’ will be conducted on November 25 and 26 at every polling station in the Chinchwad Assembly from 10 am to 5 pm.

Various forms are available for different purposes: Form No. 6A for overseas voter registration, Form No. 6B for Aadhaar number information by existing voters, Form No. 7 for objection and self-deletion, and Form No. 8 for correction, migration, duplicate EPIC and marking as a disabled person.

In areas where the gender ratio of registered voters is less than 910, special efforts will be made to raise awareness and increase voter registration. A targeted campaign for women, third caste, construction workers, cooperative societies, industrial establishment employees, disabled individuals, and the homeless will be conducted at the ward level.

Nilesh Deshmukh, the Electoral Registration Officer for 205 Chinchwad Assembly, stated, “In compliance with the Election Commission’s directive, we have initiated a two-day special campaign to facilitate voter registration in the Chinchwad Assembly Constituency. We encourage all eligible citizens to submit their applications at the 205 Chinchwad Assembly Constituency Office, Yashwantrao Chavan Secondary School in Thergaon, and all polling stations within the constituency. For those facing challenges in completing the application form, we recommend visiting Voters.eci.gov.in or using the Voter Helpline App for a convenient registration process.”
