Pune: Speeding Bus Collision Claims Two Lives and Injures Pedestrians in Katraj

Katraj, 16th January 2024: In an incident that unfolded in the Khopade Empire area of Katraj, a collision involving a speeding bus resulted in the death of two individuals, including a bike rider. Two pedestrians were also injured in the accident that occurred in the early hours of Monday.

Around 12:45 AM on Monday, when a speeding bus collided with a two-wheeler in the Khopde Nagar area of Katraj. The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Chokla and Giridharilal Jaat, who were co-passengers on the ill-fated bike. The bus driver, Kiran Ravindra Mahade, aged 29 and a resident of Khadakwasla, lost control on the hill slope, leading to the fatal collision.

Pedestrians Arjun Jujaram Devasi (23 years old, resident of Pimpri) and Praveen Prajapati (23 years old) were also victims of the accident. Arjun sustained minor injuries, while Praveen’s condition is serious. Both were hit by the bus during the collision.

Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station swiftly responded to the incident and registered a case against the bus driver, Kiran Ravindra Mahade. The case is currently under investigation by Police Sub-Inspector Avinash Dhame.
