Pune: Speeding Car Kills 12-Year-Old Boy In Kothrud; Mother Injured, Driver Absconding

Kothrud, 22nd May 2025: A tragic road accident on the DP Road in Kothrud claimed the life of a 12-year-old schoolboy and left his mother injured after a speeding car rammed into their two-wheeler on Monday (19th May) night. The driver fled the scene, and a case has been registered against the unidentified driver.

The deceased has been identified as Abir Pranav Panse, a Class 7 student residing near Chaitanya Health Club in Rambaug Colony, Kothrud. His mother, Priyanka Pranav Panse (44), who was riding the two-wheeler, sustained injuries in the incident.

According to the information given by the police, the accident occurred around 8:15 pm when Priyanka and Abir were riding on DP Road. As they approached Ashish Garden Chowk from Shantiban Society, a speeding car crashed into their bike from behind. The impact left both mother and son seriously injured. Bystanders rushed them to a nearby hospital, where Abir succumbed to his injuries the following night.

A complaint has been filed by Priyanka Panse at the Kothrud Police Station. Assistant Police Inspector Sandeep Pawar confirmed that an FIR has been registered and efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver.
