Pune: Standing Committee On Defence Visits Hq Southern Command To Review Strat Operational Preparedness of Defence Forces

Pune, 27th August 2002: The Standing Committee On Defence (SCOD) visited HQ Southern Command, Pune on 26 August 2022 to review the ‘Strat Operational Preparedness of Defence Forces’.

 

The committee was headed by  Jual Oram MP & Chairperson, SCOD, who arrived at the Command Headquarter along with 13 other members. During the visit Lt Gen JS Nain, PVSM, AVSM, SM, ADC, Army Commander, Southern Command apprised the committee about the rich history and legacy of the Command since independence, its role and tasks in ensuring the security and territorial integrity of the nation and various other initiatives and measures undertaken by the formation. The briefing was followed by an interaction with the committee. HQ Southern Command is the oldest Command of Indian Army with one of the largest areas of responsibility among all other commands.

 

The Standing Committee on Defence is a committee comprising of selected Members of Parliament constituted by the Parliament of India for the purpose of legislative overviewing of the defence policies and decision making of the Ministry of Defence.
