Pune has become a buzzing hub for the IT and automobile sectors in recent years. And with Mumbai’s competition so close, Punekars are stepping it up with some of the most impressive startups we’ve ever seen in India. Here’s a list of the ones you need to keep eye on.

Fitato

How would you like it if you had a simple “one-pass solution” for all the activities you might need to maintain physical, mental, and social well-being? That is the goal with which Fitato was started — to address the real challenges of holistic fitness. This vision was brought to life by 25-year-old Karan Murada in 2016 in Pune. He was later joined by his friend Aditya Srivastava.

The startup tries to make fitness a natural part of the lives of busy young people by giving them a single membership with Fitato. This membership will give the user access to the top fitness studios and gyms across Pune. You’ll even get to attend Fitato-owned social and community events.

With workouts such as Yoga, Zumba, Crossfit, and functional training on offer, the startup has been clocking in an 80-per cent growth every quarter for the last two years. Fitato has over 5,500 registered users and an impressive retention rate of 45%.

Moonshine Meadery

Mead is an alcoholic beverage that’s made by fermenting honey with water and sometimes combined with spices, fruits, grains, and hops. When Nitin Vishwas and Rohan Rehani saw its tremendous potential way back in 2016, they decided to start Moonshine Meadery in Pune.

Today, you can head out and find three flavours from Moonshine Meadery — Traditional Mead, Apple Cider Mead, and Coffee Mead. These products are priced at ₹220 for a 330ml bottle and have an alcohol content of 6.5%, so don’t play your favourite games on Omnia Casino India while drinking one of the meads 😉

The company has expanded its production from an initial capacity of just 2,000 litres to 25,000 litres. Moonshine Meadery also has 450 stores spread across Pune, Mumbai Goa, and Nagpur. The startup got a major boost in 2018 when it received seed funding from an angel investor group and high net worth individuals (HNIs).

Karagiri

When Dr Amol Patwari and his wife Pallavi Mohadikar Patwari spotted a major demand for Indian handicraft products in the international market in 2017, Karagiri was born in Pune. The startup took an initial investment of ₹3 Lakh and had 40 stock keeping units (SKUs). Today, however, Karagiri has nearly 3,000 SKUs.

The company aims to promote skilled artisans and weavers from across the country and sell their products in countries like India, the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, UAE, and the Netherlands among many more. Patrons from within and outside India can shop for Indian handicraft products both offline and online. The husband-wife duo claims to be growing at 50% month-on-month in terms of revenue.

Woofbnb

If you have pets, then Woofbnb is for you. It’s a one-stop-solution for per lovers and owners. From veterinary and walking to grooming and pet-sitting, Woofbnb does everything a pet owner might need it to. This concept was realized in 2015 when Anshul Goenka created Woofbnb.

The startup uses an aggregator model for services like grooming and pet-sitting but provides dog-walking service on a monthly and yearly subscription. It even has an online shop for any pet needs you might have. Woofbnb claims to be serving over 4,000 clients with a growth rate of 40% on a month-to-month basis.

ElasticRun

ElasticRun is an aggregated variable capacity transportation network that offers primary distribution, secondary distribution, and last-mile connectivity. If you want to avoid incurring high demand variability and high fixed costs for your company, you can work with ElasticRun to use its highly scalable national distribution network. This will eliminate time to market for new products.

The startup is built to handle demands by industries like FMCG, Food, Manufacturing, and E-commerce. Co-Founded by Sandeep Deshmukh (CEO), Shitiz Bansal (CTO), and Saurabh Nigam (COO), ElasticRun has raised a $57.1M in funding in 5 rounds.
