Pune: State Acts on MLA Pathare’s Plea, Announces Aid for Tamhini Bus Accident Victims

Pune, 21st December 2024: Heirs of those who lost their lives in the tragic Tamhini Ghat bus accident will receive financial assistance, following the intervention of Vadgaonsheri MLA Bapusaheb Pathare. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the fifth day of the Nagpur Winter Session.
MLA Pathare, through the Point of Information, highlighted the incident in the Assembly, stating that a family from his constituency (residents of Lohgaon) and their relatives were traveling to a wedding when their private bus met with an accident in Tamhini Ghat on Friday. The mishap claimed six lives and left 27 others injured.
Raising the matter before the Speaker, Pathare demanded financial aid for the families of the deceased and free medical treatment for the injured. Responding to the urgency of the situation, the Speaker directed the state government to take swift action. Subsequently, Chief Minister Fadnavis announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh to the heirs of the deceased.
It was reported that the injured individuals are receiving treatment at local hospitals, with authorities ensuring that medical care is provided promptly. The government has also assured that further measures will be taken to support the families and prevent such accidents in the future.
