Pune, 4th April 2025: In a tragic incident that has sparked public outrage, Tanisha Bhise—wife of Sushant Bhise, the personal assistant to BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe—died allegedly due to delays in treatment at Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. The family claims the hospital refused to begin emergency procedures until a significant advance payment was made, leading to a fatal delay.

The Bhise family has accused the hospital administration of demanding ₹10 lakh upfront before initiating a complicated cesarean procedure. Despite repeated pleas and assurances that they would arrange the amount, the hospital allegedly refused to begin treatment, citing financial conditions. During the delay, Tanisha’s health deteriorated, prompting the family to shift her to another hospital. However, the time lost—around three hours—proved critical.

At the second hospital, Tanisha gave birth to twin girls but died within minutes of the delivery. The family asserts that had timely treatment been provided at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Tanisha’s life could have been saved.

The Maharashtra State Women’s Commission, chaired by Rupali Chakankar, has taken serious cognizance of the case. Chakankar has directed the Pune Municipal Commissioner to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter and submit a factual report to the commission.

Responding to the allegations, Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital’s Public Relations Officer Ravi Palekar denied any wrongdoing and claimed that incomplete and misleading information has been circulated in the media, tarnishing the hospital’s reputation. He added that an internal investigation will be conducted and a report will be submitted to the state government.

Meanwhile, BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe has met with Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to demand legal action against the doctors and staff allegedly responsible. He also stated that the issue would be raised with  Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and vowed to pursue justice for Tanisha and her family.
