Pune, 28th June 2021: A delegation of disciples of Osho met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari on Thursday and urged him to stop the sale of two plots of Osho Ashram in Koregaon Park, Pune. They also appealed to him to order an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) into activities of Osho International Foundation, based in Zurich, Switzerland, which owns the Osho Commune in Koregaon Park.

The memorandum submitted to the Governor states, “In July 2020, these trustees colluded to sell a part of the Ashram to Rajiv Bajaj (MD of Bajaj Auto) for Rs 107 crore alleging losses due to COVID. An application was made to the Charity Commissioner Mumbai to approve this sale. The reason given was a loss of Rs 3.5 crores during the COVID lockdown of 2020. This is despite many Osho friends offering to provide funds to prevent such a sale. Also, there is no explanation for the alleged fund shortage. All attempts to reach the trustees have been in vain.

The daily entrance fee for Indians and non-Indians (Rs 970 & Rs 1950 respectively) has been set at very high rates to make it difficult if not impossible for disciples to enter and participate inside the Ashram and Samadhi.

The trustees are also under investigation for siphoning of funds to private companies (where the same individuals are directors) while showing losses for the Trust. This is direct loss to the FOREX and tax revenues of Maharashtra.”

It further reads, “We are committed to stopping this powerful and strategic nexus who want to see Osho’s legacy in India disappear with all the means at our disposal.”

Besides the investigation, the disciples have also demanded: “Immediate removal of the trustees and management team while they are under investigation and rapid transition to an interim team appointed amongst Osho disciples (pending a transparent election process)”.

The delegation included Dr Vageesh Saraswat, Kunika Arti Razdan, Kiran Dubey (Ma Prem Dhyan Kiran), Zia Nath (Ma Atmo Zia), Sunil Mirpuri (Sw. Yoga Sunil) and Hemant Malik (Sw. Deva Urja).
