Pune November 28 2019: Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd, conducted a finale where two students from Pune presented their idea. The ‘H-Social Creator’ is a social innovation program instituted to felicitate young minds who can deliver simple yet big innovations in areas of road safety, environment and clean India.

Aryan K and Ninad Shagadkar from International Institute of Information Technology

(IIIT Pune) enthralled the jury and audience alike by their innovative idea on wet &dry waste segregation. Jury members appreciated the efforts and ideation of both the students.

The main aim of the project presented by the students was to segregate wet waste and dry waste more efficiently and without the use of any harmful methods that are hazardous to the environment and the living organisms. The basic difference between wet waste and dry waste is the presence of organic components in wet waste particles. The wet waste spontaneously emits natural gases at a certain rate. The students proposed that the emission of natural gases would be detected by a gas detecting sensor known as GT3000 sensor. The GT3000 sensor would be able to detect the emission of the gases from the wet waste and then accordingly it would segregate the given garbage as wet waste and dry waste and with the help of a flicker it would transport it to two different conveyer belts each marked as Wet waste conveyer belt and dry waste conveyer belt, thus segregating the garbage efficiently.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. S.S.Kim, MD & CEO, HMIL said, “We are glad to host the first edition of ‘H-Social Creator’ in India. India is a repository of young and innovative minds. Today’s youth are the ‘Future Torch Bearers’.
