Pune: Subsidy Only For Approved Projects Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Pune, 18th November 2022: Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, only the beneficiaries of the previously approved schemes will be given a subsidy by the Central and State Governments. It has been decided to stop the subsidy for new projects. However, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar has claimed that the eligible beneficiaries will not face any problem getting the subsidy.
The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was being implemented for urban and rural areas. The local self-government bodies had also constructed buildings and provided flats at affordable rates. For that too, a subsidy was given to the eligible beneficiaries. First-time home buyers were also given a discount under this scheme. But the central government has decided not to give subsidies to the new schemes. Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar said that although the subsidy of the scheme has been stopped, there will be no problem getting the subsidy for the approved projects and beneficiaries.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has undertaken the construction of 2,900 flats in Vadgaon, Hadapsar, and Kharadi. The Municipal Corporation has provided its own space for this purpose. Apart from the government subsidy, the remaining amount has to be paid by the beneficiaries. The work of these home projects has reached the final stage, and this work will be completed by the coming month of March. After that, flats will be allotted to the beneficiaries.
